Hello Sweetie

Marlene Gas Giant – Dietrich Sector

Upper Research Orbit

First independent assignment.

The experiments themselves were… adequate.
Field stability inconsistent, but within expected parameters.

Zero-Gravity Gas Reactors are of pre-Aether design.
While adequately maintained they experience excessive
corrosion.

Our task is to access the old control areas an estimate the remaining servicelife as well as safety levels.

Documentation is not
accessible.

As safety hazards can’t be rule dout, we work in indivdual shifts.
This actually suits me.

No traffic.

No station noise.

No distracting chatter.

I found myself however observing the gas giant
below for extended periods of time.
Primarily for calibration purposes.

Occasionally the cloud formations produced optical
patterns – Just light scattering through the upper
layers.
Not remarkable.
At all.

Still

There were moments where the interference aligned
in such a way that I could almost make out an familiar
structure.

A face.

Not physically present.
Not even particularly accurate.

But consistent enough to be…
noted.

I did not attempt to correct this.

“Hello, Sweetie.”

Auditory hallucination unlikely.
Memory imprint more plausible.

Conclusion:
Long-range assignments may benefit from
reduced isolation.

Or improved mental discipline.

Assessment pending.
